We have been asked — what are we building? What is Sniftie? We hope this article makes it a little clearer.
It is not often that we see a great shift in paradigm happen. Traditional art and collectables have been the thing for centuries. From paintings and all the way to baseball cards, we have seen that there is a market for collectable and artistic derivations in the traditional world.
The burgeoning NFT space is an amazing opportunity for artists and collectors of the new digital age. Where artworks are imagined, created and stored online, it is natural that such creations would see an economy develop around them.
What is apparent however is how new this space is — and how much remains to be built to better enable both artists and collectors to better experience this space.
During our research, we noticed that most of the value of the sale of NFTs are concentrated on a small number of valuable collections, such as CryptoPunks and HashMasks. Newer artists and creators in the space have a harder time getting in and getting noticed.
For collectors, some are looking to buy as a means for investment, while others are looking for prestige (almost like a veblen good) and some just want to buy for the enjoyment of it. Whichever the motivation, and with the proliferation of various platforms, it’s becoming increasingly harder to find the genuine gems or ones you like.
Our goal is to build a platform where creators can share their artwork, and for collectors to find works in a better and easier manner, and get matched to new artists that they may like based on their likes and preferences.
We want to enable collectors and artists to connect, get better data and analytics and track events such as drops. Our goal is to build a network that works for the people who are powering this economy.
