In line with our commitment to giving back to the community and nature, we’re pleased to announce the launch of our new environmental initiative in partnership with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit organization dedicated to global reforestation.
With this initiative, we will shed light on the good uses of NFTs as means of donation for global sustainability. Our first leap towards this goal is launching a collection of “Green NFTs”, special items minted only for nonprofit utilities in partnership with One Tree Planted.
Through this partnership with One Tree Planted, StreamCoin is planning to launch several nonprofit initiatives to support global reforestation, contributing to a greener and more sustainable planet. For a start, StreamCoin has minted the Green NFTs, manifesting how these digital tokens can be used for good causes.
One Tree Planted is a Vermont-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to a greener planet with its extensive reforestation projects that span the globe. The organization simplifies donations by committing to plant one tree for each $1 it receives — as its name suggests.
The first set of Green NFTs is available in the new “One Tree Planted” collection on STRMNFT, which comprises 1,000 identical, tree-themed items. The proceeds from this collection will be donated to the organization, supporting its efforts to help the environment.
The collection is created solely for nonprofits, with each NFT priced at approximately $10 (450 STRM). The Green NFTs have 0% royalties and cannot be resold. When donors buy the NFT, it will be viewed as their proof of donation.
By their nature, NFTs are registered on the blockchain. These unique tokens cannot be modified or altered. Therefore, using them to support good causes can ensure transparency for the donors, organizations, and other parties involved. The funds can be tracked and monitored on the blockchain, as the payments for NFTs are also made using cryptocurrencies.
Moreover, contributing to good causes using NFTs can be simpler when the platform is easy to use by anyone, which is what we provide on STRMNFT. Users from all around the world can create an account, connect their wallets, and donate using Green NFTs.
The NFTs are ideal for crypto-based donations. In STRMNFT, the donor cannot resell the NFTs created for donations. That NFT, however, will always belong to the buyer and can be viewed in their account as proof of donation.
To donate to One Tree Planted with Green NFTs, you need to create an account on STRMNFT and connect your MetaMask wallet. After this, follow these steps to donate:
- Sign in to STRMNFT.
- Inside the STRMNFT Foundation channel, you can find the One Tree Planted collection:
- Click on any of the available Green NFTs.
- Click Buy and confirm the donation on STRMNFT and MetaMask.
All the proceeds from the Green NFTs will go to One Tree Planted, where each $1 will contribute to planting one tree. After the donation is completed, you can view your Green NFT by going to the “Owned” section on the My NFTs page.
