Skybreach is an expansive, self-evolving, self-governing metaverse utilizing the RMRK NFT standard and hosted on the decentralized cloud computation service offered by Phala Network, also the first use-case of Cyphermod SDK.
It’s a 2D pixel-based metaverse geared towards a hyper casual audience and is deployed on the Moonriver blockchain.
A 3D metaverse would require high rendering capacity, VR environment, VR headsets and a device with high processing power. This would be a huge resistance for mass adoption as only a few people would actually have these accessories.
The metaverse that is light, doesn’t require heavy processing power, and could run on a mobile phone is the one which will get the maximum retail participation. This is the reason, team decided to make Skybreach a 2D pixel-based metaverse.
Multi-resource NFTs
Skybreach utilizes RMRK standard multi-resource NFTs that can actually contain all the resources needed to render the game asset (or sprite) in a pixel-based or a 3D universe.
For this reason, a centralized service is no longer required to provide you with visual assets for a specific metaverse. The NFT itself can contain it all — decentralized and permanent.
Decentralized backend
Skybreach is hosted on the “decentralized cloud computation” service by Phala Network instead of a centralized cloud service provider like AWS. The use of phat contrat makes the hosted application run efficiently and ensures privacy for sensitive information.
Governance
Skybreach is a community governed metaverse and Kanaria Birds are the only governing citizens. These will vote with their $RMRK balance using the novel “Quadratic Voting”.
The $RMRK token holders who do not own Kanaria can delegate their votes to any other Kanaria holder.
With quadratic voting, 1 Kanaria doesn’t mean 1 vote. In fact, the number of votes allotted to a user will be based on the RMRK holdings. Thus, a wallet holding a lot of Kanaria NFTs without $RMRK tokens will not be allowed to vote. But $RMRK token holders can vote by delegating their tokens to any arbitrary Kanaria holder.
These combined makes Skybreach the first truly decentralized open metaverse.
Skybreach metaverse consists of 9 floating Skylands, each with 25,000 land plots. Each land plot is an NFT, and since Skybreach utilizes RMRK NFT standard, you could equip any other NFT onto your land NFT. The land plots in special locations like city centers will be taxed using “Harberger Tax” to avoid hoarding and encourage real price discovery.
All the 9 skyland will have a predominant theme or biome based on the 9 super-founder Kanaria birds: Cyber, Steampunk, Wind, Volcano, Fire, Water, Necro/Undead, Mecha, and Dragon.
There might be instances where a whale acquires a large number of land plots, and remains inactive. This could potentially turn the metaverse into a ghost town.
To prevent this, Skybreach has introduced the concept of “land decay”. Now, if the land owner doesn’t put his NFT into the land for X number of days, he will get a decay strike. If he still didn’t put the NFT after another X days, the land ownership will be made public again and will be put on sale at 10% of original price i.e., 5 xcRMRK for common and 15 xcRMRK for rare land.
However, by locking 10xcRMRK onto the land plot, the land decay can be prevented. This means an inactive user contributes to the locking of 10xcRMRK. This would encourage users to be actively involved in the metaverse.
Land plot is a multi-resource NFT consisting of 3 resources.
- Resource 1: icon for representation on marketplace
- Resource 2: the tile, onto which the user could upload any file
- Resource 3: a playable resource (upcoming)
Land owners are using “Resource 2: tiles” to represent their NFTs, projects, business, etc.
Skybreach is getting positive response from the entire #dotsama community. From parachains to dApps to NFT collections, all have secured lands for themselves.

The land sales started on 17th June, 2022 and were conducted solely in $RMRK tokens. The land sale got hindered as the bear market kept getting brutal in H2.
