· Commercial © or Non-Commercial (NC) licenses
Unlike a Non-Commercial license, a Commercial license enables the purchaser to profit from the sales of products and other derivative works based on the licensed property.
· Derivatives (D), Derivatives-NFT (DT), Derivatives-NFT Share-Alike (DTSA), or No-Derivatives (ND) licenses
Under a Derivatives license, the user is able to make their own adaptations of the work. Under a Derivatives-NFT license, derivative works are allowed, but they must be registered as NFTs and kept track of. The Derivatives NFT-Share-Alike license is very similar to the Derivatives-NFT license, with the added provision that any derivative works must be relicensed under the same terms. In addition, a No-Derivatives license prohibits the development of any derivative works.
· Public-License (PL) or No-Public-License (NPL) license
The public is granted extensive copyright authorization to reproduce the work under a Public License in addition to the user’s restricted rights (but not to make derivative works). When granted a No Public License, users have restricted access.
· Ledger-Authoritative (Ledger) or Legal-Authoritative (Legal) license
If the NFT is lost or stolen, the current state of the blockchain ledger will remain authoritative as to who is the lawful owner of the NFT and the privileges associated with the license. The courts will have more discretion to return a stolen or fraudulently obtained Legal Authoritative license to its lawful owner.

Due to the lack of clarity around the rights and duties of token owners, producers, and licensees, the legal status of NFTs is shaky at best. To remove any ambiguity from the law and to make the issuance of NFTs visible to all parties concerned, an on-chain license outlining the duties of each stakeholder group at the time of issuance is required.
